Comprehensive Evaluation

Next, we conduct a thorough speech and language evaluation tailored to your child’s age and needs. This helps us understand their strengths, challenges, and the best path forward.

    Language Delay

Language delay occurs when a child takes longer than expected to develop speaking or understanding skills. Common signs include limited vocabulary, trouble forming sentences, or difficulty following directions.

Early support is key—children with language delays can make great progress with the right intervention.

At Speech Bubbles, our experienced speech-language pathologists create personalized, play-based therapy plans to help your child thrive.

    Gestalt Language Processing

Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) is a natural way some children learn to communicate—by using “chunks” of language they’ve heard before, like movie lines, song lyrics, or familiar phrases (e.g., “Let’s go!” or “Time to eat!”). Over time, these scripts can be broken down and rebuilt into original, flexible language—but some children need support moving through this process.

GLP is common in autistic and neurodivergent children, and it’s not a delay or disorder—it’s just a different way of learning language.

Our therapists provide neurodiversity-affirming support that helps gestalt language processors move toward self-generated, meaningful communication.

    Articulation

An articulation disorder affects how a child produces speech sounds. This may include substituting one sound for another (like “wabbit” for “rabbit”), omitting sounds, or distorting them. While some speech errors are part of typical development, persistent difficulties may signal a need for therapy.

Clear speech is essential for confidence and effective communication. The good news? With guided support, most children can improve their speech clarity significantly.

    AAC Devices

AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices support individuals who have difficulty using spoken language. These tools—ranging from picture boards to high-tech speech-generating devices—help people express themselves, connect with others, and participate fully in daily life.

AAC is not a “last resort”—it's a powerful way to give someone a voice. Whether a child is non-speaking, minimally verbal, or has unclear speech, AAC can open up new opportunities for communication and learning.

Communication starts with connection

Before we build words, we build trust. Through meaningful relationships and responsive interactions, our therapists help children feel safe, seen, and ready to communicate in their own way.

Each session, we provide helpful strategies you can use during the week to improve your child’s communication skills.
